SRU graduate makes Vikings Roster

On Saturday, September 3, 2011, it was official that Slippery Rock University graduate, Brandon Fusco, had made the Minnesota Vikings 2011 roster. He was a very recognized player on the field as a Rock player and in his senior season made honors that set records very high for players after him. Just in his senior year, he had been invited to participate in the Under Armour Senior Bowl and invited to NFL Scouting Combine.

I am very interested to see all that Fusco does this upcoming season on the Vikings team. I think he will make a big name for himself and be able to continue his succeeding tradition like he did while playing college ball for SRU. He has definitely put SRU on the map after achieving so much and I know that he will continue to do make big plays and follow his dreams. Make sure to watch the Vikings first game this Sunday at 3:15 when they travel to San Diego, California to take on the Chargers.

  1. That's great to see that an SRU graduate is doing so well! With such a selective number of players that actually make it to the NFL, its amazing that someone from a Division II school actually made the cut. I can't wait to see how he does!

  2. I agree with Marissa, it is awesome to see someone who worked hard at a smaller school to make it this far in the NFL. Often it is hard for players and you do not hear of a ton of players that come from small D2 schools. Since he did graduate from Slippery Rock, there will be more of a connection and it is great seeing players from represent your own college in the NFL. I hope he has a lot of success and I will be anxious to see how he does perform.

  3. I cant believe someone from SRU got drafted and made a NFL team. Its great for a division 2 school like Slippery Rock to have someone in the NFL. Hopefully more division 2 players will catch the eye of NFL prospects. Also division 2 schools can now be comparable to division 1 schools because both have players in the next level play.

  4. It is awesome that someone from Slippery Rock was able to achieve an accomplishment becoming a professional NFL player. Not only that but being a Center is a position that is very limited on rosters and doesn't exceed two. I believe Fusco played for Connecticut previously and I am curious why he brought his talents to Slippery Rock. I feel that Slippery Rock is becoming a more noticeable school in athletics because of this and It seems like the school is expanding maybe ten years from now we will be a division one collegiate athletic school.
